The off-leash area is quite large with plenty of agility equipment, and the 1-mile trail courses through the wooded section. The gravel on the trail is still new and not quite settled, so take care walking downhill for now; I imagine this will improve as it weathers over time. There is currently still construction on the public restroom and the pavilion, but the rest of the park is open.
I love it! Nugget loves it! We are nightly regulars and Nugget has his buds now. Family friendly. Community feeling is great! Great job!
This is a nice addition to the town! It's not as nice as the Macon dog park, because it's smaller and there's less grass, but our dog enjoyed it and so did the other pups there. The obstacle course is nice, and I like that the small dog area has the same obstacles except shorter. The walking path was fine, but I'm not sure why it's gravel... If your dog has sensitive paws, it's not the best without boots. I look forward to seeing how the park changes as they continue to finish the project!
The New Wellston Dog park is great! I'm excited to see the end results. It's still being worked on...hooking up the water is first on the list I hope and then more places for the Moms and Dad's to sit next. So far the fun stuff for the dogs to do is great and every Furbaby and human I've met have been super nice. We all agree it's about time for somewhere to take our babies in Warner Robins! Thank you so much. If there were six stars I'd give it to you! ***I have only one simple suggestion. Put up a BIG chalk board at the entrance of both sides, (small) and (large) breeds are separated. On the chalk board when entering the park, write your first name with a small description (ex. Lady with pink hat and husband with red shirt), your dog's name and a small description of the dog you brought.(ex. Brown with pink leash). This would give everyone a chance to get to know each other and the dogs. Kind of a get to know your community thing! What do you think? Anyone have a better idea? Thanks again for the park and if you need any volunteers to help finish up or just keep things cleaned up pm me. My husband Pete and I are willing to help!
If I could put a zero, I would. This dog park is not worth the time or money that has been put into it. First off, it's built on low-lying ground, which causes horrible draining issues for the large dog park. About half of the large dog park couldn't be used because there was so much mud and water. Second, it is not in a good location. People from the nearby apartments have basically taken over the dog park. Kids were jumping over fences, all over the dog equipment, and were just not well behaved in general. A few kids were harassing other people's dogs, causing the canines to be overwhelmed and scared. Third, a few people from the nearby apartments have been going their so often, their dogs have marked their territory and have become aggressive to other larger dogs that were also playing in the park. The owners were no help, they were quick to blame other owners before their own dogs' actions. Within a 30 minute time span, three dog fights had broken out, one involved our six-month old puppy. All were caused by the same two dogs that would go and harass other canines, but the people wouldn't take their dogs and leave! They said that our dog was being aggressive and should go. After we took our dog out, that was when the other two fights broke out. Which were caused by the same dogs with the irresponsible owners. Overall, this dog park probably won't last much longer if something is not done. The 45 min drive to Macon is much more worth it than this place!
